Safety Reference Standard of Personal Protective Equipment

Professional footwear is a category of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) designed to safeguard workers' feet from a range of potential risks, both environmental and occupational. These risks include mechanical hazards (slipping, impact, compression, punctures, cuts, etc.), chemical hazards (contact with hydrocarbons, mineral oils, etc.), physical hazards (humidity, water, heat, cold, etc.), and electrical hazards (anti-static and conductive properties, etc.).
This footwear falls under Regulation (EU) 2016/425, which sets out the essential requirements they must meet in terms of ergonomics, safety, comfort, and effectiveness. The protective features vary depending on the specific needs of the industry where they are used, providing an appropriate level of protection against the predominant risks.
Our CALZURO models are fully crafted from rubber or polymeric materials. These designs must comply with strict standards regarding durability, comfort, and material safety to ensure maximum protection for the wearer.
A key feature of this footwear is its slip resistance, which provides specific protection to reduce the risk of falls on wet surfaces. Slip resistance is classified into different levels, each indicating the degree of protection offered under specific working conditions:
SRA: Tested on ceramic flooring covered with water and detergent.
SRB: Tested on steel flooring covered with glycerin.
SRC: Combines both tests (SRA + SRB).
SR: Tested on ceramic flooring covered with glycerin.

Furthermore, additional protection for specific hazards (mechanical, chemical, physical and electrical hazards) can be provided.
Our footwear complies with the following specific requirements:

E: Heel energy absorption

Each pair of footwear must also be accompanied by an information leaflet providing guidelines on proper use, storage, maintenance, cleaning, disinfection/decontamination, and details about the marking.
